TBF 126 It’s not by force to talk!

Welcome to another episode of the Furnace. Today was an especially fun one for two main reasons.
The first was because there was no Robert, that’s self explanatory, but more importantly it was because we were joined today by an amazing artist and one of our very first listeners, The amazing Inktrovert! Continue reading TBF 126 It’s not by force to talk!

The Best Ever: A lesson inspired by Rocky Balboa and Floyd Mayweather

In offering a rebuttal to the popular ideal Money May (Floyd Mayweather) asks, “How about you just don’t get hit?”

Whilst this proved to be an effective approach for the 49 – 0 pound for pound best boxer in a generation; Life tends to have significantly better aim.

Personally, I think Rocky got it right, you will never be smart enough, cautious enough, or just outright lucky enough (I don’t even believe in luck but that’s a discussion for another post ) to totally avoid hardship in life.
So when Life hits and it hits hard, what are you going to do?

The Empty Hand seeking Ultimate Truth

Bare soles of our feet
like how we bare our souls when we meet
in victory or defeat
we seek
The Ultimate Truth

Through mastery of self
Consequentially through the enhancement of our health
through long stances and short
through muscle, through thought

This is far more than just a sport

My Cure for Writer’s block

The pen hovers above the page,
like its blood spilled once it lands upon it, just isn’t worth it.
Ideas hide behind the page,
Like it anticipates a painful breakdown once I locate it.
I guess it would suffice to say,
I’m searching for something to say,
and a respectable means to present it.
But instead of what will give me more applause and praise,
Dear Lord, I pray, guide me with Your Spirit.

ALL THAT GLITTERS

All that glitters is not gold,
Instagram filters don’t mean a picture’s old, vintage.
Facebook statuses, likes and comments are but edited versions of our own thought vomit,
and tweets by anything but birds,
are merely recycled words, used to convey what lie or truth,
a hundred and forty characters can hold.
Please note,
All that glitters is not gold.

Taking the words of Jay Z, Eminem, Rick Ross as the Truth,
men feeding on it like it was their Curriculum at school,
See gift wrapped excrement has nice appearance too,
but just because to rap is his gift doesn’t mean he’s got something good for you.
You see all that glitters is not gold.

Gold plated knives kill,
so though enthralled by its shimmering shine,
it’s similar measure of time,
for its wound to kill you.
Distracted you were, when the bankers stabbed you,
distracted because the gold bars seemed to shine through,
you failed to see that the cost was your life,
good night.
You accomplished fifty’s goal of getting rich AND you died trying.
As you’re leaving, be reminded, all that glitters is not gold.

Sugar coated, honey filled, chocolate tasting poison,
will aggravate diabetes, risk of heart disease,
but at least if you die, you would with your taste buds smiling.
Ladies involuntarily smiling,
at each sweet word that he’s breathing,
ignoring the fact that they fall as venom from a snakes fangs dripping,
Till they sleeping, and he’s leaving,
and they crying, heart broken,
only to repeat the same with the next snake in nice clothing.
Ladies, please, all that glitters is not gold.

And this fact, brethren, we know,
yet when the preacher’s preaching and his brow is all covered with sweat,
and after each word he punctuates his sentences with "Amen!"
and he’s running around all over the place like a "spirit filled" headless chicken,
and his very words seemed to be in themselves religion,
we just sit and with eyes closed take it all in,
without weighing or testing or personal reading,
hands raised receiving,
without realizing,
that all that glitters is not gold.

Please let not my words merely impress,
and don’t be put off by my lack of literary finesse,
Just do listen to what I say,
take away, and weigh it out for yourself,
and if I’ve said anything of worth , place it in your repository,
like a good book on a library shelf,
cos in as much as all that glitters is not gold,
Gold might not always glitter.

SOME TIMES

There will be times when the sun shine doesn’t light up your day,
there will be nights you can’t see the moon,
There will be days when no matter which way you look,
salvation ain’t coming soon.
There’ll be ATM’s that will laugh at you,
and spit your card out for tasting empty,
there’ll be functions you’ll be invited to,
and in the midst of many, still feel lonely,
There’ll be times you can’t hide the pain,
when only tears remain,
There’ll be times it all seems too much,
There’s no friendly hug or touch,
There’ll be times when you want to give up,
but here’s why not.
See in those days, look at the Son’s rays,
and in the darkness still give Him praise,
and in those nights you can’t see the moon,
trust that it’s hiding because your smile made it swoon,
and when you think that helps coming from no where,
just remember Abraham and Isaac,
keep trusting that your angels are still drawing near,
and all you need will be provided.
And at the ATM, Automated Teller Machine, remind it you’ve ATM, Access To More in a heavenly being,
and that you live not only by these earthly things,
but in accordance to His riches and to His glorying.
and know you don’t have to be a fan of footie,
to never walk alone,
His Spirit’s in you, as you are in Him, seated on the right side of God’s throne.
and in those times you think that you can’t take it any more
Just know that Jesus’ hands, well they still carry sores,
that His prayers are still for you,
that He still  lives and does in you.

Keep Strolling

Keep strolling
Though Life might not be a walk in the park,
Know the justification of pain could be art,
and that is anything direct from the heart,
so whatever the situation, bear in mind it’ll impart,
something within,
something that’ll bring,
glory to the Father, make the angels sing,
like that blind dude,
the disciples thought was sin,
But if you’ll notice God had a different reaction,
even to the first time man sinned,
way back in the Garden.
The good Lord went searching.
It was we who went hiding,
Much like when Chris’s dad’s approaching,
after Chris took the big chicken,
See God knew,
Yet He asked,
and they flew,
fashion week France.
Well they didn’t,
Because God was,
Top designer and He clothed them,
Then He sacked them to save them,
see God is amazing,
so trust and keep waiting.
some say on a day that it’s raining,
don’t just wait out the storm,
Go out and get dancing,
because God’s still on form.
So Keep Strolling.

Wants, Needs and the Stuff In between.

In excess, should we find, those things we desire,
appear before our eyes…
Shall we have found what we need, to quench the fire,
or lamenting, anguished cries?

Outside we search through the bush thick and thin,
for what got lost in our room.
For outside there is light at the sun’s providing,
and inside there’s just darkness and gloom.

There’s an interesting juxtaposition in what precedes falling sick,
that I find one can easily ignore.
The luxuries we lust after are of little benefit,
And what remedies, like injections, leave one sore.

There is more to this world than meets our senses,
There is life, and only Jesus Christ presents it!
