DC comics recently cancelled publication of a comic book that depicted Jesus Christ as the side kick of a superhero.
This was after 230000 people signed a petition demanding DC comics do so out of respect of the religion.
In light of this, we, sans Robert who apparently had “back to back meetings” today, discuss our own hypocrisy given though equally offended when people make light of the person of Christ we also have laughed when shows make fun of other religions. If God plays by His own rules, then when He suggests, to the disciples, that they; “count the cost” of discipleship in Luke 14:28. He would count the cost of creation before doing so.
With that in mind we begin our Chronological study of the story of the Bible in earnest not with Genesis 1:1 but instead with an exploration of the board meeting where the God head come together to “Count the Cost” of creating the universe and ultimately mankind.
And in defining the cost we discover the value that God places on mankind and I think it’s truly a beautiful and inspiring thing to see.

We then turned our attention to Justin Beiber’s marriage and whether celibacy guarantees you a spouse.
Robert’s in the hot seat today for sorry not sorry and probably regrets suggesting the segment altogether now.
We then have a conversation about community and the need and means by which we can build it in the church. Looked like each furnace member had a slightly different take on how to do so, but was a fun conversation in the end.

The topic of abuse, and predatory culture, and the attitudes that make such behaviour thrive has never been more relevant than it is now, and the awkward, difficult and uncomfortable conversations that need to be had are at least beginning to become more commonplace in our places of work and leisure.
